1928 年，出身彰化鹿港的丁瑞魚（ 1901-1973 ）前往英屬馬來亞，於日商經營的鐵礦山擔任醫師。 1939 年二戰爆發，他與妻兒陸續回台，未料又於 1943 年被徵召，三年後才返鄉安居。 8mm 攝影機記下流轉遷徙，鏡頭下有戰前的日常點滴與出遊紀行、戰火欲來的離別餞行和出征前出於不安的留念合影。珍而重之的家族記憶，於今回望則顯影了個人與歷史的交集，刻下未現於大敘事的時代印記。 2000 年代初，丁瑞魚先生所拍攝的 8mm 家庭影像由後代捐入影視聽中心，本場次選映部分段落，並邀請研究者解讀說明，看見日治時期台灣人的生命軌跡。
